  • It may take a few moments for your API to be created and approved. Once it is, you should copy it and save it in a safe place where you can comfortably go back and get it.

Restrict API key

  • Once, your API key is generated. The last step that we recommend to do is to restrict your key.
  • You can always do this by clicking the pencil icon opposite your API key on APIs and Services > Credentials page.
  • Set API restriction to Maps JavaScript API
  • Then, join your website in Application restrictions. So, the key can only be applied to your website.

We advise adding a restriction to your API key after setting up a google map on your website. So, if the map won’t operate you will know that it is due to the wrong restriction and not other maps/extension settings.
